Taboris Charles is Gridiron’s newest Diamond in the Rough out of Moss Point High School, in Moss Point, Mississippi. Taboris is a Class of 2024 Running Back and will be entering his third year on the team. He is 5’11 and weighs 180 LBS. Taboris transferred from Heidelburg, Mississippi his freshman year and sat out from football due to covid. Taboris started out as Wide Receiver and played on defense until last year when Moss Point’s running back went down, Taboris filled in nicely and really hit the ground running with 19 carries 190 yds and a touchdown in his first game. Taboris has ran a 4.4 forty yard dash and is a powerful runner along with his speed.

When did you start playing football?

“I started playing football when I was 4 years old.”

What is your favorite thing about football?

“I love when I am running the ball and I break a run off, that crowd noise is a real rush.”

What is something you have learned playing football?

“I have learned to never give up and how to overcome adversity, as long as I keep pushing it will all be ok.”

Do you play any other sports?

“I run track. I participate in the 100, 200, 4×100, and 4×200.”

Who is your favorite college team?

“That would the LSU Tigers.”

Who is your favorite professional team?

“For me I like the Seattle Seahawks.”

Do you have any players that you model your game after or watch a lot?

“That would be Marshawn Lynch or Barry Sanders, I have been watching them since I was young.

Who is your biggest role model?

“My dad, because he played high school ball and has taught me a lot. I am inspired by him and want to work hard for him.”

How do you balance school and football?

“It just takes me being focused. The balance comes as I am passionate about both football and school.”

How do you prepare for a game?

“On a gameday I hydrate up, get a good meal, and then listen to music to calm my mind.”

What is the hardest part about football?

“Making sure the team can bounce back after a loss or big play, making sure they are all on board to stay motivated and keep pushing.”

Do you have and superstitions or rituals?

“No not really, I just pray and go out and play.”

What does it mean to be a good teammate?

“Be uplifting to one another. Making sure I am setting examples for others so I can teach the next set of role models to come.”

What has been your best football memory?

“The Green County game I hurt my ankle and coach wanted to take me out, but I stayed in and the next play busted a 90 yard touchdown.”

What sets you apart from other players?

“My ability to break through tackles and create opportunities along with long runs after that initial contact.”
