DITR: QB Daniel Kelly Ascension Episcopal High School (Lafayette, LA)

Daniel Kelly is a 6 ft, 192 pound QB class of 2027 out of Ascension Episcopal High School In Lafayette, LA. One of Daniel’s favorite game day memories was going to the semi-finals. Daniel wants to play at any SEC school, just somewhere he can show his talent and be the best in his position. His favorite part about being a quarterback is the leadership that comes with it, being able to be the leader for his team as well as being the play maker. Daniel always likes to be in the right mindset and when he makes mistakes he just learns from them and moves past them.

What made you want to play football?

Watching it on TV, knew I can do it and the confidence I got from it as well.

What is your favorite part about being a QB?

Definitely the leadership that comes with it, the passing. it is the light for me. I also like being the leader of the team as well as having the ball in my hands and being the play maker.

What did you think about the camp?

The camp was great, there were really good coaches, I was able to take a lot from it as I was competing and learning. I also got a whole lot of advice and it was a lot of good competitors as well.

What is one of your favorite game day memories?

Going to the semi-finals in football, making it that far with the team.

Who is someone you look up to in the football world and why?

Definitely Drew Brees, I grew up as a Saints fan and being able to see his leadership he brought with the team as well as being inspiring and a great mentor. I always loved watching him, he shows how and who you should be as a quarterback.

If you have a dream school you could play football for, what school would that be?

Any SEC, I do not have a dream school I just want to go to the best school where I can have the ability to learn. Anywhere I can get the position of being the best SEC quarterback is my dream school.

If you have a bad game, how do you go to improve on it and make the next one better?

Film and just knowing it is in the past, just having the right mindset and learning from the mistakes I made.

What does football mean to you?

It means a lot, very joyful, I work as hard as I can to be in the position that I am in. My foundation is Jesus Christ and the lord but having a foundation means a lot.

How do you go about balancing football, school, and your outside life?

It is mostly a consistent schedule and routine, limiting privileges as well. It is easier said than done but just staying on top of everything and being consistent.
