
Congrats to the newest Diamond in the Rough, Issac Hernandez, from the class of 2026! His current GPA is a respectable 2.8. Issac has received the 2nd Team All-District award and achieved All-American status. Issac is a staggering 6’2 and weighs 185 lbs. He can impressively bench 185 lbs while squatting up to a hefty 350 lbs. His clean is a formidable 225 lbs. Issac’s impressive qualities have led him to be featured as the latest Diamond in the Rough.

Is football the only sport you play?
“No, I also play soccer.”
What is your favorite sport?
“It’s been a combination of football, soccer, and basketball ever since I was little.”
Who is your dream team to play for?
“Any pro team. I want to go all the way.”
Who is your favorite player?
“Lionel Messi, I’ve looked up to him since I was 5 years old.
What is your favorite part of football?
“The fast pace of the game and the family I get to form from playing football together.”
What is your favorite sports memory?
“Scoring the winning field goal to secure the win, for the 1st round playoff game. Especially, after never having made it out of the 1st round, in history, for my school.”
Are there any specific game day rituals you follow?
“Double sock up, and eat Sour Skittles before every game.”
What is your go-to Gatorade flavor?
“Blue, best of all time.”
If you could only play in the scorching heat or snow, which would it be?
“Snow. I’ve always wanted to.”
If you could be described in one word, what would it be?
“Funny.”
How often do you practice?
“5-6x a week.”
What are your biggest strengths?
“Kicking, of course, also being able to multitask, and make friends easily.”
What are your weaknesses?
“Sometimes I won’t be paying attention, because of my ADHD.”
Are you looking to improve any specific tactics or skills?
“I want to improve my field goal range.”
If you could no longer play football, what would you do?
“Soccer, I love the sport, and all my family and brothers, I met playing it.”
Who is the biggest support in your journey?
“My girlfriend, she keeps me going all the time, even when I feel like I have nothing left to give.”
Who is the role model in your life?
“My coach, Coach Hill. It was one of the biggest blessings to meet him.”
Why are you passionate about football?
“It brought me up when I was at my lowest, and showed me that I can be someone.”
What was your favorite memory from the bowl game?
“Meeting all the new people and staying in the bunks.”
What was the most difficult part of the bowl game?
“Most definitely, playing in the cold.”
What lessons did you learn from playing in the bowl game?
“I learned that you shouldn’t quit now, because what if tomorrow is your breakthrough? This was something big I learned from the 7v7 talk, that really inspired me.”
Did the bowl game change how you view football?
“It made me realize that I have to work harder, and made me view football as more of an opportunity to get out of my home.”
