DITR: Jayden Perry, JEWEL M SUMNER HIGHSCHOOL (Kentwood, Louisiana)

Jayden Perry is a standout player at JEWEL M SUMNER HIGHSCHOOL who impacted the field in the class of 2025 at 6’2 and 164 lbs. Jayden plays WR, RB, CB, FS, and gunner. A player with this ability had no choice but to stand out. Watching his film, you see how patient he is in locating the ball. This factor for the team last season finished with 67 tackles, 2TFL, 2Int, and 4PBU. He doesn’t just stand out on the field but also in school with a 3.5 GPA. This is a perfect example of a student-athlete. Jayden got a chance to participate at the Gridiron Football Elite Camp in Covington, where he was able to show off his skills as a multi-position athlete and test his potential against other players from different parts of Louisiana.

What are some things you have overcome in life?

“Some things I’ve overcame in life is really a lot of adversity coming up in life, from being told I was too small to, struggling to pay for wants and needs throughout me growing up, and have multiple loses in the family that really benefited in many ways, and all that help me to become a humble student athlete I am today.”

What are your biggest accomplishments?

“My biggest accomplishments in life is owning up to playing my position despite some people tellin me i’m under weight, but that don’t slow me down, I had the 3rd most tackles with 67 as a free safety and getting 1st team all district DB and 2nd team all district WR, also breaking all of my old PR’s 225 on Powerclean 315 on squat, 185 bench, and many more prs in the weight room which helped me show out on the field how I did.”

What player do you compare yourself to and why?

“I compare myself to minkah fitzpatrick mostly, just because I feel we have similar traits on field like good field IQ, great ball skills being able to break on the ball and come down and make a play the competitiveness and just overall being very athletic and versatile.”

What are your plans once you’re done with football and why?

“My plans once I am done with football is really, I play to try to make it all the way with football in my life, I have the right mindset and the student part of student athlete down packed, but I know that can only carry me so far, so I use my free time to perfect my craft and master my positions getting both physical and mental reps in I really pay attention to the videos and tips I receive and I hope to take this to the next level because I plan to follow my dream all the way through.”

What are some goals you have for yourself, and your team next season?

“Some goals I have for myself and the team next season is to be more beneficial/reliable than I was last season be able to recognize more plays so we can get all the stops we need to win more games, because they say defense wins games, but for me to do that I have push my self not just on the field but off the field as well like I said before I have to perfect my craft mentally and physically to reach my dreams.”

What do you like about the sport of football and how is it significant to you?

“I don’t just like the sport football I love the sport, football is my go to when im on that field I feel as if all my problems jus go away and it’s just me out there, the best feelings are when your running out of the tunnel with your teammates ready to compete with the other team, making big plays, and hearing your name being called in the stands as you balling your heart playin/doing what you love.”

What is an interesting fact about you outside of football?

“Interesting things about me outside of football is im a overall nice/humble person im easy to get along with I like to chill and have a good time with family members or friends, I like to see everybody having a good time gettin along, and im always lookin for ways to build a brand for myself, and other things I stay in country so its always peaceful and calm i’ll ride horses or just always find something to do.”

what is your dream school?

“My dream school is Florida State University the real DBU.”

what position do you enjoy playing the most and why?

“I really enjoy playin Free Safety the most because that’s really the first defensive position I played since middle school, I just love to be back their looking over the whole field just being able to see everything overtop and being a field general.”
