DITR: Damon Felder Gulfport High School (Gulfport, MS)

Our newest Diamond in the Rough is class of 2024 Cornerback Damon Felder out of Gulfport High School. Damon stands at 6’1 175 LBS, he has a max bench of 200 LBS, max squat of 335 LBS, and a max deadlift of 415 LBS. Damon can do it on the field and in the classroom with a 3.3 GPA. Last season he had 17 pass breakups and 1 interception. He has been named to the All-Region Team the past two seasons.

When did you start playing football?

“I started playing football when I was 5 years old.”

What is your favorite part about football?

“I love the competition it brings, it is between me and my opponent.”

What is the hardest part about football?

“It takes the whole team to come together and they need to work united, which isn’t always easy.”

What is something you have learned through football?

“The only way to win games is with everyone on the same page, and everyone knowing their assignment.”

Do you play any other sports?

“I am on the track team, I participate in the 400M and 4x400M.”

What is your favorite College Football Team?

“My favorite College Team is Alcorn State.”

Who is your favorite NFL Team?

“My favorite NFL Team is the Buffalo Bills.”

Who is your biggest role model in life?

“My dad, he has taught me everything I know about football and life.”

Do you have any players yo like to watch and emulate your game after?

“For me it is Jalen Ramsey because of his play-style.”

How do you balance school and football?

“I get everything done during school so when football comes around I can make sure I focus on football.”

Do you have any personal goals for next season?

“I want to up my interceptions to at least 5 and I want to have at least 70 tackles on the season.”

How do you prepare for a game?

“I make sure to watch the film and know the opposing receivers tendencies, then everyone locks in on game-day.”

What is your best skillset as a player?

“My best skillset has to be my coverage, but I also pride myself on my tackling.”

What does it mean to be a good teammate?

“Being accountable and holding others accountable, being the person that can make right from a situation after making a mistake without needing someone to help out.”

What does your team need to do in order reach the goals you have set?

“We need to know the playbook and all unite as one in order to succeed.”
