Amani “AG” Givens is a class off 2022 running back at Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Amani stands 5’8, and is a physical runner who possesses patience to let blocks set up and also the ability to make defenders miss in the backfield. Amani has excellent hands and runs great routes out of the backfield, he is also good in pass pro when asked to block blitzing linebackers or defensive backs. He possesses excellent strength with a 350-lb bench press, 555-lb squat, to go along with a 4.51 40-yard dash time. Amani is also a great student, boasting a 3.8 GPA.

How long have you been playing football and What do you love about football?

AG: I have been playing football since I was 6 years old and I love football because it teaches you life lessons. 

What has football taught you about yourself?

AG: Football has taught me that I’m a hard worker and a fighter, I am willing to fight for my brothers always. 

Who are your biggest motivators?

AG: My family is my biggest motivation. 

Do you play any other sports? 

AG: I run track, I run the 100-meter sprint, 4×100 relays and threw the shotput. 

What would your coaches say about you as a player? 

AG: I always give 100% when I’m on the field and willing to make the adjustments to help the team win. 

What is your biggest strength on the football field?

AG: My biggest strength on the football field is my physicality and my ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. 

What part of your game do you want to improve on in your senior year?

AG: I want to become more elusive and making better cuts. 

What should college coaches know about you?

AG: I take the term student-athlete very seriously, I maintain a 3.8 GPA and I’m a powerful running back. 

What are some of your goals, when it comes to your overall football career? 

AG: My goal is to be a balanced back and be the best running back on the field every time I go out there. I never want to get tackled by one man. 

Is there any player college or professional that you model your game after?

AG: Josh Jacobs (Former Alabama RB and current Las Vegas Raiders) and Ricky Williams (Former Texas RB and Heisman Trophy winner). 

What are some of your goals this season team wise and personally? 

AG: My team goals were to be district champions but we’ve achieved that so now, my team goal is to win a state championship. Personally my goals are to either get a first down or a touchdown on all my runs and do whatever I have to do to help the team win.
