Amyrion Mingo is a class of 2024 WR for Alexandria Senior High school in Alexandria, LA. He is 5’11 and weighs 170. Amyrion does a good job catching in traffic, fully extending and high pointing the ball, and blocking as a receiver but also has the versatility to play corner, safety, QB, and can occasionally be seen on jet sweeps. He is a multi-sport athlete also playing basketball and track while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. What’s most impressive about Mingo is how developed and versatile he is at such a young age.
UPDATE: Amyrion moved to Alexandria, La and started school at Alexandria Senior High School in August 2021 as well as played the 2021-22 season for the Trojans.
How long have you been playing football? I’ve been playing football since I was 4 years old.
Do you play any other sports? Yes, I play basketball and I also run track.
Why do you choose to play WR? I play WR because it’s fun, and you get the chance to expose DB’s which we all know are the cockiest.
What is the most important part of playing WR? The most important things at WR are your hands and your footwork in my opinion
What goes through your mind pre snap? During pre-snap I’m thinking about what release I’m going to do and should I celebrate after my touchdown.
How do you create separation? I tend to create separation through my route running!
Can you play any other positions? Most definitely… I can play any skill position on the field.
What position do you see yourself playing at the next level? I see myself playing WR for a d1 school.
Do you look up to anyone? No… not really, I’m just trying to make it out.
What are you doing to get better? I’m working on my craft, trying to perfect it!
Do you have any goals for this season? My goals are to break all the schools’ records! And take my team car this year!
Why should colleges give you a chance? I’m different!! I’m not the fastest or the strongest or even the most athletic there is but I’m never gone stand down to nobody! They strap up just like me.
What stands out about the way you play? I make plays and I look good while doing it.
What is your favorite part about playing WR? My favorite part is most definitely scoring touchdowns! It’s just a different feeling.
What has playing football taught you? Playing football has taught me brotherhood and how to trust others!
What is your favorite route to run? My favorite route would have to be a post- corner!! It’s just so nasty when ran right!
What kind of receiver are you? I’m more of a route running WR!
Do you have anything you want to throw out there for people to know? I want everyone to know that I will not be in the shadows for too much longer! I wanna be the best!
