D.I.T.R: Carl Mcdonald Jr. – RB/WR

Carl Mcdonald Jr. is a running back and receiver at Natchez High School in Natchez, Mississippi. Mcdonald Jr. is listed at 5’11” 175 pounds. He played in an offense that featured three running backs last season. As a sophomore, Carl was the second running back in the lineup, but still received a good amount of playing time. He is a very shifty running back that shows amazing acceleration speed when he gets the football. This athlete will be the primary running back for Natchez High School until his graduation in 2025. I had the opportunity to speak with Carl Macdonald Jr. about his career thus far, and plans for the future.

Q: Tell me about yourself and where you grew up?

I grew up in Natchez, Mississippi – Born and raised. I have been playing football since I was about 5 years old.

Q: Do you play any sports other than football?

I am actually a three-sport athlete. Besides football I play outfield in baseball, and left wing in soccer.

Q: What is one of the biggest challenged you’ve faced playing football, and how did you overcome that?

Honestly, really staying a team player. Not getting mad at your teammates when they mess up, pick them back up if they do something wrong. You have to stay positive and encourage the ones around you.

Q: What is your favorite part about playing running back?

My favorite part of playing running back is getting to see the offensive line block, and open up holes for me to run through. Growing up, I was always an energized little boy, so I enjoy running. I got that energy.

Q: What is something you have learned from football so far?

One thing that my coach has taught me, always have fun in life. No matter what you are doing have fun.

Q: Who do you look up to on the football field, whether it is a current or former player?

C.J. Anderson- I love the way he played, the way he ran the ball so physical. It was always special to watch.

Q: What are some of your dream colleges and why?

LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, but really any division one school that would take me.

Q: What strengths do you believe you have that makes you an impact athlete?

My mindset and determination.

Q: How would your teammates describe you?

They would probably say I am funny first. Hard-working, they know when I’m coming, whether it is in workouts, practices, or games, I am going to bring my all and give my hardest effort. Lastly, a team player. I am always going to be there for my teammates.

Q: What are you looking forward to this upcoming season, any specific goals for you?

My main goal is to hit 800 yards running. As the main running back I want to hit 800 or 1000 this season. We got a new schedule as well this season and it will be exciting to play new teams and see what we can do in a new division.

Carl Mcdonald Jr. will be the running back of the future of Natchez High School. This athlete is determined to get to the next level, no matter what it takes. Carl has the speed necessary to be an elite back. He has two more seasons at Natchez High School before graduation in 2025.
