CFB150 TO COORDINATE UNIFORM LOGO PROGRAM IN 2019

Irving, Texas (November 6, 2018) – One year from today. The 150th birthday of college football. The sport that began with Princeton and Rutgers on November 6, 1869 will be celebrating. The organization planning and administering the celebration has announced the CFB150 logo will be provided for use on uniforms to nearly 900 football programs.

The College Football 150th Anniversary will be a celebration for all divisions of the sport, beginning in just 56 days as the calendar turns to 2019. A season-long campaign, the uniform logo program will be the most widespread effort of its kind in the history of college athletics.

At the FBS and FCS levels, 100 percent of those Division I schools have placed orders for jersey patches indicating they will participate next season. CFB150 staff has been working with NCAA, NAIA and junior college institutions to survey membership and more than 200,000 uniform patches and helmet decals have been ordered for delivery in February 2019 for season-long use. The uniform logos are available at no cost to the institutions.

Placement of the logo was approved earlier this year by the NCAA Football Rules Committee. The recommended location is on the right chest, above the conference logo on most FBS and FCS uniforms. Teams at the NCAA Division II and III levels, along with NAIA and junior college schools have the option of utilizing a helmet decal. Patches will also be made available to game officials through their national associations. In addition, the AFCA will partner with CFB150, with coaches wearing them on the field during the first week of the season as part of a co-branded mark.

Patches and decals will be provided by The Emblem Source, an industry leader in sports uniform decoration. “The Emblem Source is proud to be the official supplier of the patches and decals commemorating 150 years of college football,” said Brian Rutt, Chief Operating Officer/General Counsel at The Emblem Source. “Our involvement in an event of this importance fits well with our commitment to college football through our individual team, conference, and bowl game relationships. To be a part of commemorating the birth of college football is an experience we will always cherish.”
