LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns head football coach Mark Hudspeth announced during his weekly press conference on Monday that former defensive coordinator James Willis is rejoining the program as a defensive analyst.
Willis, who served as Louisiana’s defensive coordinator from 2013-14, will be able to converse with other coaches on staff, study tape, and do such things as find tendencies of both the Cajuns and opponents. Analysts are not permitted to actively coach players at practice or during games.
Willis left Louisiana in early 2015 for a position with New Orleans Saints, where he was a defensive assistant, focusing on the linebackers before being released after the 2016 season.
Louisiana will return to action on Saturday when it plays at Idaho in a Sun Belt Conference game. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CDT and can be seen on ESPN3.
