BREAKING NEWS: Jena High School (Jena, LA) RB Zerrick Jones Commits To The Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game

One of the best and most productive running backs in the state of Louisiana has committed to play in the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game in Jena High School (Jena, LA) running back Zerrick Jones. The 5’8, 170 pound running back may not be the biggest back, but he runs like a Giant. In fact, he led the Jena Giants to their best season ever finishing the regular season undefeated and clinching the number one seed in the LHSAA Division III (Non-Select) Playoffs where they eventually lost to the state champion Union Parish Farmers.

While leading the Giants to their best season in program history, the star Jena running back smashed a lot of school records in the process as he broke two Jena High rushing records for most rushing yards in a single season with 1,965 and touchdowns with 32. Despite his video game numbers as a senior, Jones has proven to be a very productive player throughout his prep career with 4,203 rushing yards.

Playing at a program that has produced some great players including former LSU wide receiver Jaray Jenkins, Zerrick Jones has certainly etched his name in Jena football lore with the season he’s had, and like the former LSU Tiger standout, he wants to continue playing college football at the next level. So far, he has received interest from some colleges in Kansas and Arkansas, but he is honored to have one more opportunity to showcase his skills in a loaded backfield at the 2023 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.

“It means a lot to me and my family because I couldn’t be here without them or God.”

The Giants’ touchdown machine compares his game to another running back that had lofty statistics in his NFL career and that is the all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith. Jones has proven that size doesn’t matter and his productivity shows that.

When it comes to Zerrick Jones’ personality, he maybe quiet and introverted, but when it comes to him on the field, expect him and his play to be loud as it can be.
