Ascension Catholic High School (Donaldsonville, LA) offensive lineman Vaughn Blanchard has committed to play in the 2025 Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game, which will take place on Tuesday, December 30th at Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, Louisiana.
There are not a lot of players that can say that they have paved the way for not one but two Gridiron Football All-American running backs and 4,000+ yard rushers in Chad Elzy and now, Trevin Simon.
Playing left tackle for the Bulldogs, the 6’3, 250 pound two-way lineman was an integral part of what is the most productive rushing season in Louisiana High School Football history as he opened up holes for Simon, who ran for a state record 3,915 yards and 58 touchdowns. As one of the key members for this senior class, Blanchard led a team under the tutelage of a first-year head coach in Taylor James all the way to the Superdome for the LHSAA Division IV Select State Championship Game.
Whether it is on offense or on defense, big #64 has made his mark. As a junior, the 1st Team All-Parish selection made both 2nd Team All-District on the offensive line and defensive line. This season, he improved on those marks earning 1st Team All-District honors on the offensive and defensive line.
With a 3.2 GPA, an athletic frame, quick feet, and strength, Blanchard has attracted the attention of many colleges and has received two collegiate offers at this point from Arkansas Monticello and Minnesota West. Blanchard is a tremendous athlete that has earned All-District honors in not only football, but basketball and baseball as well.
What is also interesting is that Vaughn is not the first Blanchard to play in the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game as his older brother Zane Blanchard played in the first ever Gridiron Football Bowl Game at Louisiana Christian University representing Assumption. Now, Vaughn will get the chance to do the same thing at LCU.
“It’s very exciting to be able to play another game and to represent Ascension Catholic.”
