Ashton Broussard is a 6’2, 275 pound Offensive lineman out of Kentwood, Louisiana. He can bench up to 315 pounds and deadlift up to 455 pounds! If you thought that was impressive, he can also squat up to 545 pounds. Not only is Ashton a good player on the field but he is also a good student in the classroom! This was Ashtons first time at the Gridiron Bowl game this past December. I got to interview him to learn more about his experience and who he is as a person off the field.
Here is my interview with Ashton!
When did you start playing football?
I was 6 years old in little league
What made you want to start playing?
I liked watching it and I knew my dad played, so it was just a new sport to try out
How would you describe your playing style?
I feel very confident in my ability to run block and then I definitely need work on pass blocking
What are your goals after high school? Do you have any offers?
No offers yet, but I’ve talked to a few coaches, a few colleges, I definetly want to play. I think I will walk on somewhere if I dont get an offer.
Do you want to stay in Louisiana or go outside of the state?
I’d rather go somewhere in Louisiana but if someone offers me something out of state, I will defenitely go there
Do you have a favorite player?
Probably Larry Allen
Is there a dream college you want to play for?
I guess it would be LSU, I know out of high school I’m not going to be able to get there, if I eventually transfer there that would be awesome
Describe your experience at the bowl game
It was very fun, I liked the elevated competition behind it. The practices were intense but not like beating us into the ground each practice. It was a good balance. I had a lot of fun playing, especially because it was new stuff I had to learn so i liked learning.
Did you make any new connections?
There’s probably about 3 or 4 of the kids there that I got pretty close with
