The Cedar Creek Cougars look to get their program back on track after having a down year last year. This roster led by their 2 senior captains, James Myers on defense and Landon Hall offensively, has their eyes set on achieving new heights. The Cougars are heading into their second season with a new head coach and hope to have smoothed out all of the wrinkles during the first year. They ended 4-6 last season being knocked out in the first round of the state playoffs, one game from finishing .500. They want to build off of last season’s high points with some very dominant performances, winning games 42-0, 48-0, and even taking one game by 60 points holding their opponent scoreless.
When asked about the impact that their coach, Coach William Parkerson, has had on them over his first season as Cedar Creek’s head coach, they both felt as if he had brought a huge amount of knowledge and unity to the team locker room.
It was a journey learning with him and being coached by him, but he is a leader through experience. He makes sure that we know everything that we can about the sport and about him, so that when we get on the field we are the most prepared we can be under his leadership.

He is a great leader and a great coach, he also helps bring the team together and we have had more chemistry together. He also teaches footballl with life lessons, I think that’s a really big thing. Teaching us about the game, through the trials and tribulations that we go through, that he will help us through them.

When asked what makes them special as players on the field, Landon Hall, the team’s offensive captain listed his on-field efforts but also noted his time spent outside of practice and off the field that separates him from others.
I think it’s just about effort and know-how. I try as hard as I can 100% of the time on the field, but I also make sure I pay attention in class, we study as a team, and we know every play down to the T. That’s really important to make sure eveyrthing flows efficiently so that we can lead better as leaders and make sure everyone plays their part.

Looking forward to this season, the Cougars focus less on personal stat goals and more on finding their team identity and fully embracing it. They are focused mainly on putting up wins this year by any means necessary.
One of our main goals this season is to figure out who the leaders are and having them step up into those positions, playing together having great chemistry, and building relationships inside the locker room.

The Cougars are also entering a new district lining them up with some new opponents and exciting matchups this upcoming season. They are excited to go out, compete, and show these new teams that they are a force to be reckoned with.
Ain’t nothing new, we’re going to go out there and give fans a show, a fight, and its going to be a lot of fun to watch.
