DITR: Victor Hollins Madison Prep Academy (Baton Rouge, LA)

Welcome Victor Hollins, the 6’1 280lb backfield breaking defensive tackle out of the class of 2026. Victor is a guaranteed tackle every time he makes contact as such a big body alongside running a 5.12 40 yard dash which is surprising speed for his size. With this Victor uses his combo of strength and burst to win his matchups against offensive guards and centers providing constant pressure to opposing quarterbacks. Victor has been 3-time all-district and was all-metro and all-state during his junior season after recording 45 total tackles. He has been very accomplished and intends to gain even more going into his senior season as he has assisted in Madison Prep’s 6-1 record three quarters through the season.

Here’s my interview below with Victor!

What got you into football?

I remember watching as a kid, I know my older cousin Gervon Ferguson was in the class of 2016. He played defensive end and the way he played the game was very passionate and it kind of got me starting to play it. I wasn’t the best at it at first but, after more time working on it my skills grew. And he told me the opportunities I could have if I continued playing the sport so I grew a passion for it.

Was there a play or moment that made you feel like you belong?

I was very little like pewee football and we had a drill called bull rain where everybody gets around and when your name’s called you have to hit someone. I remember it was my birthday and I was in the middle of the ring and I’m realizing it’s kind of fun, and I realized that getting knocked over wasn’t as bad as I thought it was and after that I fell in love with the game.

Who would you compare your playstyle to?

I tried to make my playstle off Aaron Donald because I’m not the 6’5 or 6’4 DT that you’re gonna get but Aaron Donald he was 6’2 and he was dominant. He was strong, he had the bench press, he had the squat, and he has the strength and everything to dominate the way he was. And it wasn’t really about how big he was it was just the way he played and his passion. And I try to go the same way with that mentality.

What’s your strongest attribute on the field?

It’s probably my strength and speed. I’m 315, and you don’t expect me to come off the ball that fast, I clock in at a 5.13 40 yard dash and you’ll think I’m fast and finesse next thing you know I’m putting a bull rush down the middle of your chest and you don’t expect that.

Do you have a favorite player?

Chris Jones, I like his hands he’s very talented with his hands. He’s very patient, doesn’t work his moves too soon or too fast, I really like his playstyle.

What differentiates you?

I’d say mentality. Yes, I work hard and get stronger than everybody to give myself the physical advantage but it’s the fact that I’m here to uphold an image. My whole family before me has been division 1 athletes at all these big colleges and everything. I’m doing this because I see the opportunities that open doors up for me. My cousin has a full ride scholarship to New Mexico State and he just kind of set that path for the family.

Dream college?

Yes, Florida because it’s a high athlete area and with Louisiana you might not get as much exposure as Texas or Florida. And plus they have a good Kinesiology program and that’s what I intend to major in.

Dream NFL teammate?

Ray Lewis because of the way he dominated and led the team. As a D-tackle I take a lot of double teams and my ‘backers are supposed to come clean up the field and sometimes they might get lost. But Ray Lewis is one of those athletes where he’s coming to that hole to meet you there.

Favorite part about football?

The atmosphere. It’s a sport where as a little kid you think it’s really cool but growing up this sport can open so many opportunities. I just love the impact, the life lessons you learn from the sport and the many ways it just helps out in life.
