The game started off going Acadiana’s way at the beginning with their strong run game through Troy Kennerson who had a 88 yard rushing touchdown. This put the rams up 7-0 and made the Acadiana sideline erupt in cheers and fanfare. But, Zachary had a response through a drive through their wide receiver Ethan Kimmie who collected 50 yards alone on the drive. This included a 31 yard touchdown reception that would tie the game 7-7 at the end of the first.
After a 3 and out from Acadiana, Zachary has a 30 yard screen pass to Jeremy Patton that puts them in scoring position followed up by a goal line run from running back Tylek Lewis to put the score up 14-7 Zachary. But, Acadiana quickly fired back with their running backs Gavin Coleman and Troy Kennerson. Coleman having a 40 yard run on the drive to put the team in scoring position and Kennerson punching in the goal line run to tie the score at 14-14. After this score both teams where struggling to get an offense going in the quarter resulting in 2 punts. Then, with less than a minute left in the quarter Zachary leads a scoring drive off a great throw from QB Michael Kirby to Kylin Jones for a 42 yard gain and an eventual Ethan Kimmie touchdown catch. His second touchdown catch of the day putting the score at 21-14 Zachary right before the end of the half.
Now, after the first half ended the game was completely turned on it’s head afterwards and became a defensive game. Throughout the third quarter there where back to back 3 and out drives followed by a Interception by Acadiana in which they were stuck at their own goal line afterwards. On top of this at the start of the 4th Zachary scores a safety off a errant snap from Acadiana putting the score at 23-14 Zachary. With this momentum Zachary was able to get within scoring position but then end up missing the field goal. However, in this situation the Zachary defense is able to cause a fumble which ends in a scoop and score touchdown for Malachi Langford making the score 30-14 Zachary. Then, the rest of the game was the two defenses going back and forth. After an 80 screen pass from Acadiana they end up fumbling in the red zone. In response the Acadiana defense stopped Zachary and forced a punt. Then, in back to back Acadiana drives Zachary’s Dylan Shelmire came up with two sacks one of which sealing the Zachary win over Acadiana.

We started squeezing a lot better with our end guys on the line of scrimmage and that took their dive down…I thought our defense played tremendous in the second half.
