What’s up Wildcat: Shedrick Davis

Another wonderful wildcat I had the opportunity to interview was Mr. Shedrick Davis. When asked what brought him to Louisiana College to play football, Davis said twins named Curtis and Dwight Dawson. “I was playing some 7 on 7 back at Zachary High. I didn’t know anything about this place at all. I went to Hargrave Military Academy as soon as I graduated high school, a prep school in Virginia. Then Coach Dunn told me about this area. He said I might have a shot to come play. So I took the offer”.

Shedrick feels absolutely positive going into this season. “We’re going to shock the world this year”. As far as projections for this upcoming season, Davis is expecting the team to win conference and nationals. Shedrick specifically wants everyone to know that their offense is about to be number one. When asked what’s different about the offense this year, he responded “We’re going to have a new quarterback. They’re still competing right now between Dre and Wayne. It’s pretty hard to top Easton breaking records and stuff, but the quarterbacks we have coming in are looking really good. Dre has footwork and he can throw. We have a new running back coming in, Le’Vonte. We have the same receiving four. I’m expecting a lot from our offense. Not only that, I’m expecting a lot from this team”.

Shedrick confidently believes the Wildcats will get back to the national level with him. “Knowing what it takes and having the other guys know what it takes too, I think we have a great, great shot at going to nationals”.

When Coach Andy mentioned that he talks to a lot of scouts and Shed’s name frequently comes up as the number one receiver in the state of Louisiana right now in college football, Davis’ face lit up. “I didn’t even know that” he said as he laughed. “Are you serious?” Andy let him know he was indeed serious. Coach Andy asked what his response to that was. Shedrick immediately said “Thank you Lord”. Knowing this going into the season, Davis said it honestly won’t really phase him too much. He’s focused on this team right now. Whatever happens next is what God has for him. Other than that, this team is his number one priority and what’s on his mind is to win nationals.

It was a pleasure speaking with Shedrick. He’s a phenomenal football player with an even better personality. We expect substantial accomplishments from him in the future. You will be reading more from the Wildcats!
