Warhawks Add Five Mid-Year Signees

MONROE, La. – ULM head football coach Matt Viator announced the addition of five student-athletes to the football program this afternoon as part of National Junior College Signing Day. The five newcomers (J.J. Dallas, Joquarius Savage, Sloan Spiller, Collin Turner and Rhoy Williams) will join the Warhawk team in January 2017.

“We are excited to add five young men to our football team today. All five will be able to start school in the spring semester so we will have them here over the rest of the offseason and spring training,” Viator stated.

“We signed three defensive backs, which was an area of need. J.J. Dallas is a corner that we really liked a lot and recruited for a long time, Collin Turner is a safety that we think has flexibility to do a lot of things and Rhoy Williams is a taller, bigger, rangy safety that we think fits what we’d like to see. We added Sloan Spiller, who is a guy that I knew a lot about and has been on our radar for a long time. Joquarius Savage from here at Neville is a huge get for us. To get a guy that can come in here and be an offensive tackle for us right away is big.”

Dallas (San Diego, California) is a 6-1, 195-pound cornerback who joins the Warhawks after spending his sophomore season at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California. He began his collegiate career at Blinn Community College (Brenham, Texas) after a prep career at Corpus Christi School.

Savage (Monroe, Louisiana) is a 6-6, 330-pound offensive lineman who joins the Warhawks after spending the last two seasons at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, Mississippi. The hometown product prepped at Neville High School in Monroe, helping the Tigers win the 2014 Class 4A State Championship.

Spiller (Katy, Texas) is a 6-1, 235-pound tight end who joins the Warhawks after two seasons at Pearl River Junior College in Poplarville, Mississippi. He began his collegiate career at UTEP (El Paso, Texas) after a prep career at Katy High School, where he was a part of the Tigers’ Class 5A DII State Championship as a junior.

Turner (Arlington, Texas) is a 5-11, 190-pound safety who joins the Warhawks after two seasons at Cisco Community College in Cisco, Texas. He joined the Cisco program after a prep career at Martin High School.

Williams (Vaughn, Mississippi) is a 6-3, 195-pound safety who joins the Warhawks after two seasons at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi. He joined the CoLin program after a prep career at Yazoo County High School.
