The Walker Wildcats got a big win this past Friday night as they defeat the Kentwood Kangaroos 30-8. Led by running back CJ McClendon’s 157 yards and two touchdowns, the Kangaroos had trouble in stopping the Wildcats’ ground attack as Walker ran for a grand total of 242 yards.
What also helped the Wildcats was its opportunistic defense. In the win, the defense forced five turnovers including a 91 yard interception by Preston Hill and two interceptions by TJ Silvio.
After trailing 8-7 in the first half, it was all Wildcats in the second half as they outscored the Kangaroos 23-0 in the final 24 minutes.
With the win, the Walker Wildcats have now won three in a row after losing the season opener to Ponchatoula. This week, they will take on the Belaire Bengals on a short turnaround Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Kentwood Kangaroos, which are the number two team in Class 1A, lose their first game of the season, and will look to rebound for their big rivalry game against Amite on Friday.
