Belle Chasse HB/LB Jaedon Voisin commits to Southeastern Louisiana

Around a week and a half ago, it was announced the Belle Chasse High School’s Jaedon Voisin decided to commit to Southeastern Louisiana University to play football at the next level. He committed to SLU over Northwestern State and Nicholls State. Jaedon is an impact player on both sides of the ball for Belle Chasse, rushing for nearly 1,800 yards paired with 18 touchdowns last season, along with several sacks and quarterback hurries, plus numerous tackles. He was also named a GNO quarterback club player of the week once last season, along with winning two all-conference awards and an all-state honorable mention last season. SLU will have a big decision to make regarding which side of the ball he lines up on, as Jaeden is talented enough to play both.

If Jaedon lines up at running back, he brings something that SLU is lacking in at the position, which is size. All four of the top running backs on the depth chart currently weigh 210 pounds or less, and Jaedon weighs 240 pounds, so his size alone should earn him the chance to make an impact immediately. Combined with his 4.48 40-yard dash time, Jaeden will be a force that opposing Southland defenses will surely have trouble tackling. If he lines up at defense, he should earn a spot in the rotation as Southeastern sports an experienced and older pass rushing unit and will have holes to fill in 2024, and more in 2025.

I talked to Jaedon recently about his commitment and to get some insight into why he chose to commit to the Lions:

“I committed because I felt like I have made a really good connection with the coaches. Everyone has been super friendly, and it’s not too far from home.”

-Jaedon Voisin

Regarding which position he will play next year:

“I’m not sure but I feel like I can make a difference on both sides of the ball, so whichever side I am on, I will give 110% to be the best possible player for the team.”

-Jaedon Voisin

Regarding what Jaedon is looking forward to the most about playing for SLU:

“I’m most excited to experience the brotherhood that the players have. Seeing the small interactions between the players and coaches lets me know that everyone there is appreciated and welcomed.”
