MOSCOW, Idaho. – The University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks came up short in their comeback attempt against the Idaho Vandals, losing by the score 27-13. The Warhawks are now 1-6 on the year.
The Vandals were able to grab an early 3-0 lead before ULM’s Marcus Green scored on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Smith and put the Warhawks up 7-3 at the end of the first quarter. The Vandals and Warhawks traded field goals in the second quarter, then Idaho scored right before the half to give them the 13-10 advantage. ULM was able to add another field goal in the third quarter but Idaho answered with two touchdowns and making the final 27-13.
Smith finished 19/37 for 186 yards and a touchdown pass to lead ULM. DeVontae McNeal added 38 yards rushing. Marcus Green led the Warhawk receiving corp with six receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown. Jared Mapps had four catches for 39 yards. Xavier Brown and Harley Scioneaux had over 20 yards receiving apiece.
This Saturday, the Warhawks will travel to Lafayette to face the Ragin’ Cajuns for an in-state matchup. The game will be at 4 p.m. Halloween afternoon and will air on ESPN3.
