MONROE – The University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks fell to the Appalachian State Mountaineers by the score of 59-14 and dropped to 1-5 on the year.
The Warhawks started fast and scored less than four minutes into the game when Garrett Smith completed a nice pass to Kaylon Watsosn for a 35-yard touchdown, giving ULM the 7-0 lead.
The Mountaineer were able to get the lead by the end of the first quarter, as they scored a touchdown and added a feild goal.
In the Second quarter, Garrett Smith found Marcus Greene for a 31-yard touchdown pass, which allowed the Warhawks to regain the lead 14-10. ULM was unable to reach score again in the game against a tough Appalachian State defense, and the Mountaineers scored the last 49 points of the game.
Smith finished 17/30 for 192 yards with two touchdown passes to lead ULM. Ben Luckett rushed for 65 yards on eight carries. Watson added 47 yards on the ground and had 41 yards receiving with a touchdown. Green had six receptions for 68 yards with a touchdown to lead the Warhawk receiving corp. Jared Mapps had three catches for 46 yards.
The Warhawks will travel to up north to face the Idaho Vandals on October 24th for a 4 p.m. game that will air on ESPN3.
