Tulane Football Works into Final Week of Preseason Camp

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane football hit the practice field at Yulman Stadium Monday morning to begin the final week of preseason camp, with the season opener just 12 days away.

The Green Wave worked outside on the Benson Field turf after taking off two days over the weekend. The 18th practice of the preseason coincided with the first total solar eclipse to cross the United States from coast to coast since 1918. Tulane’s workout concluded well before New Orleans viewed 75 percent coverage of the sun Monday afternoon.

Tulane practiced for two hours on the turf, focusing on technique in the position unit drills, working through one-on-one and 7-on-7 sessions, rehearsing special teams situations and ending with an 11-on-11 team period.

“We accomplished some things today,” head coach Willie Fritz said. “When you take a couple of days off, it seems like it takes a little while to get into the swing of things. We just have to take advantage of every single day.”
