TIGERS COMPLETE 11TH PRESEASON PRACTICE

Due to the weather the Tigers were driven indoors. Today they completed their 11th practice today of the preseason, and the offense continues to roll. Freshman wide receiver Trey Palmer, who has been missing for most of the preseason, was lauded by Coach Orgeron post practice for having a recent receiving touchdown of 70 yards. Running back Tyrion Davis-Price was used in short yardage, and had “a great day, very physical day.” stated Orgeron.

On the offensive line Coach Orgeron thinks Dare Rosenthal is the most improved lineman to this point of camp. Senior Adrian Magee has the ability to play right guard, left guard, or left tackle. Senior Badara Traore has the possibility to play either guard position as well, look for the battle to heat up there for either guard spots. As the Tigers has quality depth at this position.

Junior Jontre Kirklin is transitioning nicely to wide receiver from the defensive back position. Both Senior Stephen Sullivan and Junior Tory Carter have made the full time move to new positions as well. Sullivan to tight end from wide receiver, and Carter to tight end from fullback. “Carter is an excellent athlete, he moved into tight end and recently had two great catches in practice for us”. When asked earlier tonight if he would recruit anymore athletes at the fullback position. Coach Orgeron responded with “if they are athletic, we will.”

Defensively the Tigers get back Grant Delpit and Kristian Fulton, both looked healthy in practice today after missing some time with minor injuries. Freshman Siaki Ika and Sophomore Tyler Shelvin will both battle for the starting nose tackle position. At this point it’s anyone’s position to loose, but both will see plenty of reps during the season. Recent graduate Breiden Fehoko, Senior Rashard Lawrence, and Junior Glen Logan will all be in the starting rotation on the defensive line.

Coach Orgeron stated at the press conference this evening that he “really wanted the walk-ons to get a shot on special teams. They are all excellent Tigers.”
