The Hornets beat the Yellow Jackets

The Scotlandville Hornets had a home game tonight against the Denham Springs Yellowjackets. The crowd tonight was electric; the Scotlandville fans were electric throughout the game. It was a cold night up here and it did not stop anyone’s energy.
Denham started with the ball, but after one first down, they were forced to punt. Denham’s defense seemed ready for Scotlandville’s high powered offense and forced what seemed to be a three and out. Scotlandville lined up to punt but snapped it to the second line of blockers and he took it 70 yards for a touchdown. Scotlandville takes an early 7-0 lead. After a 3 and out Scotlandville takes over again. On the second play of the drive, they took a shot deep that landed them at the three yard-line. On the ensuing play, Scotlandville put the ball in the endzone making it a two-score game less than four minutes into the game. When Scotlandville kicked off they pooch kicked the ball and were able to recover the ball. While having good field position they had a long methodical drive, taking the first quarter clock to 2 minutes before scoring on a nine-yard touchdown pass. Scotlandville went for two and made the game 22-0. To end the first quarter on a positive note, Denham was able to put together a somewhat successful drive, they were able to get a few first downs and cross the 50-yard line. Scotlandville received the ball early in the second quarter and had an efficient 7 play drive in which they gained first downs on almost every play before scoring, making the game 28-0. Denham’s offense continued to improve and put together a scoring drive, capped off by a 25-yard pass to make the score 28-7, with five minutes in the half. Things continued to look up for Denham, on Scotlandville’s next drive, they fumbled the ball giving Denham the ball with good field position. This was the extent of Denham’s success, as they threw an interception on the next drive. Scotlandville was able to score one last time before the end of the half, going up 35-7.
After halftime, Scotlandville began to rotate their lineup and played their backups, as they were in cruise control. Scotlandville controlled the game from the start, starting with the trenches, linemen on both sides of the ball were getting a push. Scotlandville’s offense was consistently able to move the ball through the air, but they were also able to run the ball if they needed it. The final score is 14-60 Scotlandville.
