Southeastern to Host Second Fall Scrimmage, Kickoff Appreciation, Media Day

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana football team will host its second scrimmage of the fall 2016 season on Saturday at10 a.m. at Strawberry Stadium.

Saturday’s scrimmage will be the Lions’ final scrimmage before the 2016 officially kicks off on Sept. 3, when the Lions travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma to face Oklahoma State at 2:30 p.m.

In conjunction with the event, Southeastern will host the Inaugural Kickoff Appreciation event for SLU football season ticket holders from 10 a.m. – noon. The event is open to SLU football season ticket holders only and interested parties will have the option to purchase season tickets at the event.

Fans are asked to enter Strawberry Stadium at the southwest corner of the stadium near the Billups Room entrance. Refreshments will be available at the event.

The Lions’ five-game home schedule opens on Sept. 24, when they welcome league rival Northwestern State for a 6 p.m. contest. In addition to attending the Southeastern Kickoff Appreciation event, fans can purchase season tickets by contacting the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office at (985) 549-5466 or visiting LionSports.net and LionUp.com.

Also on Saturday, SLU will host its annual Media Day, which is open to media members only, at 2 p.m. in the Victory Club.

Southeastern head coach Ron Roberts, offensive coordinator Matt Barrett, senior quarterback D’Shaie Landor, senior running back Rasheed Harrell, sophomore running back Julius Maracalin, senior linebacker Tre’ Bennett, senior fullback Juwaan Rogers, senior wide receiver Brandon Acker, junior offensive lineman Travis Romero, senior defensive lineman Javari Nichols and sophomore wide receiver Jake Ingraffia will all represent the Lions at Media Day.

Following Saturday’s scrimmage, Southeastern will return to practice on Sunday at 7 p.m. before beginning daily 4:30 p.m. practices next week. Practices are open to Touchdown Club members only.
