Southeastern Football Practice Report – Day 6

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana football team’s second week of fall camp opened with a competitive practice Monday morning at Strawberry Stadium.

The Lions’ workout was the second day for the team in full pads. The practice culminated with the team competing in game situations. Southeastern head coach Frank Scelfo saw good things on both sides of the ball.

“We came out with a lot of energy throughout practice today,” Scelfo said. “We were able to get some good work in on second and third-down situations. The offense started off well and converted on their first few tries, but the defense responded and overall won the drill.”

Scelfo saw the two sides have been fairly evenly matched through the first six practices and he expects the competition to continue throughout the fall.

“We want to continue to have good competition every day,” Scelfo commented. “We want guys knowing where they’re supposed to be and playing fast. As long as we’re playing fast and confident in our assignments, we’ll get where we need to be.”

SLU will return to the practice field on Tuesday at 9 a.m. Southeastern opens the 2018 season on Aug. 30 with a 7 p.m. contest at ULM.
