HAMMOND, La. – A day after his former teammate Harlan Miller was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, Southeastern Louisiana defensive back Denzel Thompson was added as a free agent by the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Thompson, a native of Clearwater, Florida, received an invitation to the Seahawks’ rookie minicamp. The 6-3, 200-pound Thompson will be looking to join Miller and current Atlanta Falcon Robert Alford to give Southeastern three defensive backs in the NFL.
Thompson played in 47 games in the secondary during his Southeastern playing career. The Countryside High School alum recorded 117 tackles, eight interceptions and 21 passes broken up.
As a junior, Thompson was named second team All-Southland Conference after leading the team with four interceptions and eight pass breakups. As a senior, the well-rounded student-athlete earned a spot on the Southland Conference All-Academic team.
