HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana football team’s home game versus Central Arkansas on Oct. 29 is among the Southland Conference television selections for the week, the league office announced on Monday.
Due to the game being designated the Southland Game of the Week and made available on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app, kickoff time has been moved up to 2:30 p.m. to accommodate the broadcast. The game was originally scheduled as a 7 p.m. contest.
Other conference games selected for broadcast for the week of Oct. 29 include Abilene Christian at McNeese (American Sports Network), Houston Baptist at Lamar (ESPN3) and Nicholls at Northwestern State (WHNO/ESPN3).
In conjunction with the Oct. 29 game, the 2016 Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame class will be inducted in a private ceremony earlier in the day. The 2016 class of Jacques Chevallier (golf), Calvin Favron (football) and Kenny Lehrmann (baseball) will be recognized at halftime of the Lions-Bears contest.
The Southeastern-UCA rivalry has been dead even at 2-2 during head coach Ron Roberts’ tenure. Last season in Conway, the Bears protected their home field with a 21-16 victory over the Lions last season. Central Arkansas has not won in Hammond since 2012.
The game with UCA will be the second of two straight home games for SLU, which celebrates Homecoming this week. The Lions (3-3, 3-1 Southland) will attempt to extend their win streak to three games when it hosts Houston Baptist (2-4, 1-3 Southland) on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium.
The game versus the Huskies can be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (KSLU 90.9 FM, Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM, WFPR 1400 AM) and LionVision subscribers will be able to access a live video stream of the SLU-HBU contest at www.LionSports.net/watch.
The first 300 SLU students in attendance will receive free t-shirts courtesy of Southeastern Athletics Marketing and Promotions. The 2016 Homecoming King and Queen will be announced at halftime of the SLU-HBU contest.
The Homecoming parade is scheduled for 12 p.m. and will make its way through Friendship Circle as part of the parade route. There will be no parking in Friendship Circle on Saturday and Friendship Circle will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday. Friendship Circle parking passes will be honored at Lot B.
