I had the chance to interview Samuel! Check out his answers below!
What did you look forward to most at the camp?
“Improve my pass blocking and general aggression.”
What was your favorite drill you did?
“Tire pulls easily, it’s a dog fight, and I love it. It’s very hands on.”
Was there a specific drill you would have liked to perform?
“I would like to get a little more 2 on 2 or 5 on 5 action. So that way we could get some real game scenarios.”
What did you like about the camp?
“It’s not like any camp I’ve ever been to. The coaches are very interactive and hands on, between that and the measuring, the competition, and exposure you get, plus the bowl game invite, really stuck out to me as you don’t have to pay extra for those.”
What skills do you think you performed well?
“I definitely improved my pass blocking, and my footwork was really good.”
What was your 40 yd dash time?”
“5.53”
What was your shuttle run time?
“5.03”
Do you think you performed to the best of your abilities?
“I do think I performed pretty well, major improvement from the last camp.”
If you could have done something differently, what would it be?
“If I could have done anything differently, it would have been changing up my technique for the 40 yd dash.”
Why did you choose this camp?
“I didn’t know what I was getting myself into, but it was a better option than the other camps I’ve been to. I actually felt like I was learning versus just being there and participating.”
As one of the players with a bowl game invite, what are you most proud of?
“I’m proud of how far I’ve come in my position. Being bigger, stronger, and faster, winning reps, makes me feel very proud compared to my freshman year, constantly getting tackled.”
What were you looking to get out of the camp?
“The bowl game invite, I was chasing that, but I’m always trying to improve and learn so that if I get the opportunity to play at the next level, I can do my best.”
Did you learn any important lessons?
“Size does not always matter, especially in the trenches. I’ve been beaten by people half my size and have beaten those twice my size. It comes down to technique.”
If you could offer one piece of advice for future players participating in camps, what would it be?
“I would say, you have only lost when you have given up. If you keep trying, you are a winner.”
