Rising Star, OL, Daston McGee, Live Oak High School (Live Oak, LA)

Help us welcome the newest Rising Star, Daston McGee, class of 2028! Daston was at the first Gridiron Football camp of the year, located at Live Oak High School, demonstrating his talents and abilities. His abilities carry over to his academics, as evidenced by his 3.0 GPA. This strong willed, passionate athlete showed what it takes to achieve his goals for the camp, while ultimately working towards his goals of playing at the next level. Daston originally just came for the chance for exposure and to learn, but is leaving as a Gridiron Elite Camp Top Performer!

What did you look forwad to most at the camp?

“Really just trying to get seen, it was my first camp ever, I just wanted to show out and do my thing.”

What was your favorite drill you did?

“The 1 v. 1’s.”

Was there a specific drill you would like to have done?

“Relay races, we do those for competition, and I know my team likes them.”

What did you like about the camp?

“It was very organized, from interviews to warm-ups to groups, it moves quickly and efficiently.”

What skills do you think you performed well?

“My ability to learn really showed. If I were corrected, I would try to do each rep better and better.”

What was your shuttle run time?

“5.34”

What was your 40 yd dash time?

“6.34”

Do you think you perfrmed well?

“I think I did pretty well. I definitely could have performed better, but being that it was my first camp, I think I did alright.”

If you could have done anything differently, what would it have been?

“Probably talking to coaches, introducing myself, just getting around to meet everybody.”

Why did you choose this camp?

“It was at my high school. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.”

As a top performer, what are you most proud of?

“I’m most proud of myself. I really didn’t expect it when my name was called out to receive an award. I was really excited. It made me glad I chose to come to the camp.”

What were you looking to get out of the camp?

“The chance to do my first interview, and being able to see results.”

If you could offer one piece of advice for future players participating in camps, what would it be?

“Keep moving, never stop.”
