Parkview Baptist High School Linebacker Micah Johnson Commits To The Ragin’ Cajuns

Last month, Parkview Baptist High School’s star linebacker Micah Johnson announced his commitment to play for the UL Ragin’ Cajuns. The Eagles standout has played on both sides of the football for head coach Stefan Lefors at tight end and linebacker and has been a major contributor to the team’s 10 win season and Quarterfinals appearance. Throughout his senior season, Johnson has racked up 95 tackles including 10 tackles for loss.

Despite playing for both sides of the football, The 6’2, 230 pound Baton Rouge product has been offered by Southeastern, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, and Southern, but it was the UL Ragin’ Cajuns that topped the cake in the end.

”The coaching staff kept it real with me from the start and I want to play for a coach that would always keep it real with me. I just love the culture around the place.”

Two coaches that played a big role in his recruitment were linebackers coach Galen Scott and of course, head coach Michael Desormeaux, but it was also the atmosphere that he witnessed on his first game day visit that won him over.

”The first UL game I attended last year vs. Nicholls caught my attention. I loved the environment.”

That experience really helped him make a decision right before the Eagles’ playoff run and helped him focus on the remainder of his senior season. Even though Parkview’s season is now over and that Micah is moving on to the next level, he will never lose sight of what helped get him here, which is not only his talent, but his love and passion for the game.

”I started playing football at 4 and I realized it was my sport that young. I feel in love with the sport early.”

It was the Parkview Baptist coaching staff led by former Christian Life and Louisville quarterback Stefan LeFors that also made football enjoyable for him the last four years as well as the people that have helped him to this point.

“I’m proud that I was bless with good coaches throughout my four years.”

“I want to thank all the coaches I had throughout  my journey and I also want to thank my teammates for pushing me everyday. In addition to that I want to thank my partner for always believing in my dreams.”

The Ragin’ Cajuns commit will get to add on to what he has learned from the high school level and translate it to the college level as he continues to better the biggest strength of his game, which is his football IQ and also will get the opportunity to improve his speed.

A player that Johnson has looked up to is another local Baton Rouge product in Christian Harris, who went on to star at Alabama and currently plays for the Houston Texans. He will like to follow in his role model’s footsteps by having a great career at the collegiate level. Micah Johnson is super excited to showcase his ability in Lafayette next season.

“Let’s work because y’all got a hard worker on the way!”
