A couple of days, the LSU Tigers lost a commitment in four-star cornerback Ondre Evans, but they gained another commitment at the position. This time, it came from the state of Mississippi in three-star cornerback PJ Woodland from Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. His commitment came after his second visit with the LSU Tigers this past weekend against Army.
The Mississippi native was once committed to Mississippi State, but has now chosen the Tigers over the two Magnolia State schools in Mississippi State and Ole Miss. He also had offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M.
Woodland, who is considered a three-star prospect and the number 17 overall prospect in the state of Mississippi according to 247, is the fourth player at the cornerback spot to commit to the Tigers for the 2024 class. The 6’0, 165-pound prospect joins Cai Bates, Wallace Foster, and Ju’Juan Johnson as other cornerback commitments.
Both LSU’s defensive back coaches Robert Steeples and Kerry Cooks have played major roles in the Warriors’ two way star’s commitment. Also as a receiver for the Warriors, Woodland has excellent ball skills after having seven interceptions as a junior. The first team All-District and All-State selection is also having a strong senior season as the Oak Grove Warriors are currently 7-1.
The LSU 2024 class is ranked as the number 12 recruiting class in the country according to 247 and 11th recruiting class according to On3.
