LSU TIGERS CAMP DAY SIX NOTES

Day Six for the Tigers is in the books. Today LSU wrapped camp with its second day in full pads. Offensively, the new look passing game is going to allow quarterback Joe Burrow to spread the ball around to all his receivers. A big part of that passing attack relies heavily on the tight end position. Tight end Thaddeus Moss recently answered a few questions about the offense saying “everyone eats in this new offense. It’s about getting the ball to playmakers. When Joe (Burrow) was talking about it, this offense is definitely able to score 40 points a game.” When asked about how he feels going into this season. “I’m great, feel great, I’ve made every rep, every practice.”

The offensive line is the most improved unit out of any according to Head Coach Ed Orgeron, they will need to continue to gel in practice and continue to perform. According to junior offensive tackle Saahdiq Charles on the new offense; “it’s fast, effective, fun to play in. We have high expectations for ourselves. Coach Joe said that defenses will have to defend every blade of grass and I think he’s right.”

Defensively, the line is looking stronger than it has in several seasons. Being three deep on the line, and having quality depth is something the Tigers have not seen I quite a while. Recent LSU graduate Breiden Fehoko told us in a recent interview that “my first goal was to get a degree, and I did that.” For the defensive line, “playing against Georgia was the benchmark, and that has to be the standard.” Coach Orgeron stated that Fehoko would be starting and Rashard Lawrence would be getting as many snaps as long as he could go, he just needs a little bit more conditioning. Fehoko was also recently named to the Polynesian Player of the Year watch list. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding Polynesian college football player that “epitomizes great ability and integrity.” Former recipients include Tennessee Titans Quarterback Marcus Mariota, Baltimore Ravens Offensive Lineman Ronnie Staley, and current Alabama Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
