LCA Four Star ATH Ju’Juan Johnson Commits To The Colorado Buffaloes

Today, one of the biggest names in the 2024 Class for the state of Louisiana announced his college commitment, and that is Lafayette Christian Academy quarterback Ju’Juan Johnson.

As a four-star recruit, Johnson had over 18 DI offers and recently narrowed down his top schools to three in Colorado, Florida, and LSU. In today’s commitment ceremony, the number one athlete in the state chose to play for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes over the Tigers and the Gators.

Getting to learn how to play cornerback from one of the greatest shutdown defenders in the history of the NFL certainly played a huge role for him committing to the Buffaloes, but it was also the job that the NFL Hall of Famer is doing in building a program and the fact that Deion is encouraging guys to play both sides of the football that helped make Johnson’s decision.

Although projected to play cornerback, Johnson has ascended to become one of the most productive high school quarterbacks in the state of Louisiana after leading the Knights to two state championship game appearances.

Last season, the All-State quarterback was sensational as he threw for 4,140 yards, ran for 1,347 yards, and accounted for 60 total touchdowns.

The dual threat quarterback saved his best performances in the playoffs. In fact, he was our Gridiron Football Louisiana Player of the Week in the semifinals when he accounted for an unbelievable 649 yards and nine touchdowns in a 68-46 win over Teurlings Catholic in order to send the Knights to the state championship game.

Despite losing in the state championship game, Johnson put his heart and soul into the game with a standout performance as he set a LHSAA state championship single-game record with 586 yards to go with five touchdowns in a thrilling 52-48 loss to St. Thomas More in the Division II (Select) State Championship.

The LCA star really broke out onto the scene when he got the best of Newman star and current Texas quarterback Arch Manning in the semifinals as a junior when he accounted for 409 yards and six touchdowns in only 26 minutes of play to send the Knights to the state title game.

Heading into his senior year and after making his college decision, Johnson is motivated to come back to the Super Dome, but this time, win the title to cap off his prestigious prep career.
