LCA Four Star ATH Ju’Juan Johnson Commits To LSU

A little less than a month after he decommitted from Colorado, Lafayette Christian Academy four star ATH Ju’Juan Johnson made his announcement on the Culotta Show that he was going to commit to the LSU Tigers.

Gridiron Football’s #2 Louisiana Player of the Year in 2022 committed to Colorado back in February and decommitted in April. Now, he has decided to commit to the LSU Tigers and stay home.

“It was really just the hometown, staying in Louisiana is great. To be able to be a part of Louisiana culture, it is a great thing for me to stay in the boot. I love the culture over here and the vibe I get from down here. There are so many things so I might as well stay and learn some more.”

LCA 4 Star ATH Ju’Juan Johnson on committing to LSU

Jordan Arcement and Robert Steeples proved to be the lead recruiters for Johnson and is expected to play defensive back at LSU. He will also get the chance to get some looks as a kick returner and a punt returner.

Although projected to be a defensive back, Johnson has proven himself to be one of the best high school quarterbacks in Louisiana after leading the Knights to two state championship game appearances.

Last season, the All-State quarterback was sensational as he threw for 4,140 yards, ran for 1,347 yards, and accounted for 60 total touchdowns.

The dual threat quarterback saved his best performances in the playoffs. In fact, he was our Gridiron Football Louisiana Player of the Week in the semifinals when he accounted for an unbelievable 649 yards and nine touchdowns in a 68-46 win over Teurlings Catholic in order to send the Knights to the state championship game.

Despite losing in the state championship game, Johnson put his heart and soul into the game with a standout performance as he set a LHSAA state championship single-game record with 586 yards to go with five touchdowns in a thrilling 52-48 loss to St. Thomas More in the Division II (Select) State Championship.

The LCA star really broke out onto the scene when he got the best of Newman star and current Texas quarterback Arch Manning in the semifinals as a sophomore when he accounted for 409 yards and six touchdowns in only 26 minutes of play to send the Knights to the state title game.

Heading into his senior year and after making his college decision, Johnson is motivated to come back to the Super Dome, but this time, win the title to cap off his prestigious prep career.

Meanwhile, for LSU, this marks the 15th commitment in the 2024 class including the fourth projected defensive back and also the second in the last two weeks.
