Jones College Falls to Undefeated Holmes in 35-22 Battle

Jones College (3-2) fought hard but fell short against undefeated Holmes (5-0), losing 35-22 in a thrilling matchup at Ras Branch Stadium on September 26, 2024. Holmes’ defense made key plays, forcing three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by E.J. Segrest.

Despite outgaining Holmes with 535 yards of total offense compared to Holmes’ 190, Jones College struggled to convert key opportunities. Quarterback Blake Murphy threw for 369 yards and a touchdown, but turnovers and penalties stalled the Bobcats’ drives.

Holmes capitalized on early mistakes, jumping out to a 14-0 lead by the first quarter. Jones responded with a 10-yard rushing touchdown by Cobey Craft, cutting the lead to 14-7. However, Holmes’ efficient offense, led by C. Richardson and Deandre Pullen, extended the lead to 28-14 by halftime.

Jones’ defense stiffened in the second half, and the team scored on a 25-yard field goal by C. Baglione and a safety late in the game. Holmes’ big-play ability, including a 44-yard touchdown run by Pullen, proved the difference, securing their 35-22 victory.

Jones College will look to bounce back in their next game as they continue MACCC play.
