I spoke to coach Ray Aucoin, defensive coordinator of Iota High School, about his team. He said that they had a tough season because in the first game of the season, their quarterback went down with a broken collarbone. His son, Kameron Aucoin, had to move over from the defensive side to play Quarterback. “This was tough because we lost two starters in that injury.” They had a really good run knocking off the #8 and 9 teams. It came down to the final game of the season and if they had won, they would have been in the playoffs at the #27 spot. However, they lost their final game of the regular season and they fell to #35, just 2 spots shy of the playoffs. I asked how do they look for next season and he said, “We are loaded for next season, almost everyone will be returning!”

Here are just a couple of the standouts for next season.

Levi Manual, Middle Line Backer (JR)  (5’11, 190 lbs) “Levi is one of the best kids I have ever coached!” Levi is a 4.0 model student. This past season he had 105 tackles (which lead his district by over 20), 5 sacks, 10 tackles for a loss, and 2 interceptions.

Kaleb Guillory, Running Back (JR)  (5’9″, 165 lbs) “Kaleb is a good kid and a pleasure to coach.” Kaleb is a 3.0 student and is hard to tackle. He makes cuts and makes defenders miss. This past season he rushed for 1743 yards and had 17 touchdowns.

Hunter Andrus, Outside Linebacker (JR)  (6’2, 210 lbs) “Hunter is a terrific kid and comes from a football family. He does everything right.” Hunter is an Honor Student with a 4.0 while in Honors classes. This past season he had 65 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions 2 fumble recoveries with on going for 51 yards for a touchdown. Coach Aucoin said that he should have had more interceptions because he had 7 pass breakups that should have been interceptions.
