Has LSU Become RBU?

Has LSU become RBU or running back university? Simply put, yes! Lets just look at these two backs, Fournette and Guice.

If I can compare Fournette to any NFL back, I would say that he is very comparable to Adrian Peterson from the Vikings. Fournette is just a freak athlete. He is a 4.3 guy that is just so big and strong. During 2015, Fournette could easily argue that he had a much better season than his counterpart from Bama who won the Heisman. Fournette was within 200 yards from having the most rushing yards in the nation. What many broadcasters forgot was that he had two less games that season than  Bama. If you recall, during week 1 the McNeese State game was canceled after hours of delays due to lightning. With that said, Fournette had more yards per game and more yards per carry than the Heisman finalist.

As Fournette is now getting ready for the NFL draft lets compare his highlights to those of Adrian Peterson of the Minnisota Vikings.

Now let us take a look at Darius Guice. Guice is a different type of freak football player. This past season, Guice lead the SEC in rushing yards per attempt. Guice also set the LSU rushing record twice last season with the most rushing yards in a game. Next season, I am predicting that if he has the same type of season as he did this past season, he will be a Heisman finalist. With Matt Canada’s new offence, he will have the opportunity to surpass Fournette with the most yards in a season.

My NFL comparison for Guice is one of the all time greats, Barry Sanders. His ability to be at top speed by his third step, his ability to bounce off defenders just remind me of Sanders. So watch these videos, and decide for yourself.

Certainly running backs have a strong future at LSU, and LSU has a bright future ahead.  Only time will tell if Guice’s fame will eclipse Fournette’s record.  I for one am excited to watch him try and outshine previous greats in this historic program.
