Fun with Fournette

LSU 45 – Auburn 21

On Saturday night, September 19, 2015, in Death Valley, the LSU Tigers treated fans to a game that was not only impressive but fun to watch, thanks in large part to one man, Leonard Fournette, More than achieving 228 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, Fournette displayed unbelievable feats of power, speed, agility, and athleticism and was just plain fun to watch.  To fans delight, the entire team played well with few mistakes, but Fournette’s performance was so exceptional it couldn’t help but to eclipse all others.  

On the opening play of the game, Leonard Fournette had a 71 yard run to make it first and goal for the Tigers.  With 13:19 left on the clock in the first quarter, Quarter Back, Brandon Harris ran two yards for the first touchdown of the game.  Trent Domingue had a perfect night, nailing this kick for the extra point as he did every extra point kick during the game. The LSU Tigers were up 7 on their first possession of the game and the tone of the game was set.  The LSU Tigers would score again in the first quarter with a 1 yard pass from Brandon Harris to Colin Jeter for a touchdown. The Tigers were up 14 to 0 at the end of the first quarter.

 

The first score in the second came on a 32 yard field goal by Trent Domingue.  The most exciting play of the quarter came later on a 40 yard run by Fournette for a touchdown.  Fournette, resembling a bowling ball rolling toward the goal line mowed through 300 pound defenders as if they were bowling pins.  The LSU Tigers went into the locker room at half time with a 24 to 0 lead over the Auburn Tigers.

Auburn scored two touchdowns in the third quarter, but LSU’s Fournette produced two more touchdowns for LSU in the third as well.  The first came on an incredible 29 yard run where he literally threw an Auburn defender over his shoulders.  The second came on a one yard leap into the end zone over the offensive and defensive line!  The score was LSU 38 and Auburn 14 at the end of the third.

During the fourth quarter, LSU Quarter Back Brandon Harris would score his second touchdown of the game and Auburn would score a touchdown as well for a final score of LSU 45 and Auburn 21.
Though it truly was Fournette’s night, the entire team played well.  It looks like LSU may finally have that good quarterback they have often longed for in Brandon Harris.  The offensive line was solid.  The defense played a great game with 5 sacks, one interception, and one forced and recovered fumble.  True Freshman Derrius Guice made an impressive statement about his potential with 55 yards rushing.  True freshmen Arden Key and Kevin Toliver also impressed with their solid contribution to the LSU defense.
