HAMMOND, La. – Two Southeastern Louisiana 2016 football seniors were part of the 2017 NFL undrafted free agent class.
Defensive back Will Hines and offensive lineman Taylor Gadbois both received rookie mini-camp invitations. Hines received his invite from the Atlanta Falcons, while Gadbois’ came from the San Francisco 49ers.
Gadbois was a dominant offensive tackle in his lone season with the Lions after transferring from Miami (FL). A third-team Associated Press All-American selection, the Dallas, Georgia native helped SLU to a 7-1 record in games he started. Gadbois also earned first team All-Southland Conference and All-Louisiana honors.
Hines spent two seasons in Hammond after transferring from Arkansas. An honorable mention All-Southland selection in 2016, the Waco, Texas native led SLU with eight pass breakups as a senior to go with a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.
Since head coach Ron Roberts took over the program prior to the 2012 season, 15 Southeastern players have received NFL opportunities. Highlighting the group are a pair of defensive back draft picks in Robert Alford (2013, 2nd Round, Atlanta Falcons) and Harlan Miller (2016, 6th Round, Arizona Cardinals).
Hines and Gadbois’ future teammates will report to campus for fall camp on July 31. The Lions open their 2017 schedule at UL Lafayette on Sept. 2. Season tickets for Southeastern’s five-game home schedule that opens with a Sept. 9 contest versus Bethune-Cookman are available now by contacting the Southeastern Athletics Ticket Office at (985) 549-5466 or visiting www.LionSports.net/tickets.
