Former Lions Gadbois, Hines Receive NFL Free Agent Opportunities

HAMMOND, La. – Two Southeastern Louisiana 2016 football seniors were part of the 2017 NFL undrafted free agent class.

 

Defensive back Will Hines and offensive lineman Taylor Gadbois both received rookie mini-camp invitations. Hines received his invite from the Atlanta Falcons, while Gadbois’ came from the San Francisco 49ers.

Gadbois was a dominant offensive tackle in his lone season with the Lions after transferring from Miami (FL). A third-team Associated Press All-American selection, the Dallas, Georgia native helped SLU to a 7-1 record in games he started. Gadbois also earned first team All-Southland Conference and All-Louisiana honors.

 

Hines spent two seasons in Hammond after transferring from Arkansas. An honorable mention All-Southland selection in 2016, the Waco, Texas native led SLU with eight pass breakups as a senior to go with a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.

 

Since head coach Ron Roberts took over the program prior to the 2012 season, 15 Southeastern players have received NFL opportunities. Highlighting the group are a pair of defensive back draft picks in Robert Alford (2013, 2^nd Round, Atlanta Falcons) and Harlan Miller (2016, 6^th Round, Arizona Cardinals).

 

Hines and Gadbois’ future teammates will report to campus for fall camp on July 31. The Lions open their 2017 schedule at UL Lafayette on Sept. 2.
