LSU has more players currently in the NFL, more defensive backs in the NFL, just had two top 10 picks in the NFL Draft, and has had the most players drafted since 2008. Can LSU become the next college dynasty? I do believe that they are on the verge of it already. The only thing they do not have are the championships.
How can the Tigers have so many guys in the NFL and NO CHAMPIONSHIPS? The Tigers have been known for their defense for the couple of years, however they have been lacking on the offensive side of the ball. I do not think it was the lack of a quarterback nor other play makers, rather the play calling of the OC. The Tiger constantly recruit a top 10 class every year, so there is no lack in talent.
Ed Orgerons first job when he was given the nod as LSU’s new head coach was that he hired the only offensive coordinator that beat the 2016 National Champions, Matt Canada. Coach O already had the only defensive coordinator to hold ‘Bama to 10 or less points last season. The pieces are in place for 2017 for the Tigers to rise up out of the ashes and become the most dangerous team in college football. Danny Etling has a strong arm and good release, however he needs more passing reps to get better control. I think with Canada’s offense he will surly get a ton of reps and we will see a much improved QB this fall. Guice has the ability to be a Heisman finalist this fall. The receivers will be young with DJ Chark leading the way. LSU’s defense will be lead by All-American defensive end Arden Key.
To say that the Tigers will be in contention this season is an understatement. The Tigers could end the season as National Champs as well as SEC Champs. My prediction for the 2017 season is that LSU could have two Heisman candidates in Guice and Etling. With better play calling Etling could be the next 3,00o yard passer for LSU and Guice will be the next 2,000 yard rusher with Chark having 1,500 receiving yards. Lets not forget the defense with Key having 10+ sacks and White leading the SEC in Tackles.
