Edna Karr was hungry for this win to cap their 12-0 season with a win against Catholic to take them to the Superdome. The theatrics at Morris F.X. Jeff, Sr. stadium where on full display as Edna Karr did their iconic sway and took the field as fireworks where lit. Edna Karr would also win the toss and chose to kickoff to start, giving Catholic the ball at their own 19 yard line. Catholic’s first drive wouldn’t go as planned as they are unable to gain big yardage due to Edna Karr’s stifling defense. This would force a Catholic punt that gave the Cougars the ball just past midfield. Edna Karr with the ball would start off shakily with a pass to Gregory Wilred resetting the downs for them. However, after this some incompletions alongside a false start penalty would end Edna Karr’s drive thus punting the ball back in Catholic’s hands. Catholic would start their drive off strong with a quick first down by Jude Chamberlain followed by a 30 yard gain from Justin Batiste on a pass. In the redzone now, Edna Karr’s defense comes up with a big stop after a sack from Juelz Batiste and a tackle by Kylon Jones brings 4th & long for Catholic forcing them to bring their field goal unit in. Catholic would then subsequently kick the field goal giving them a 3-0 lead in the first quarter. On the next kickoff Anthony Thomas would return the ball 63 yards giving Edna Karr the ball at the 38 yard line. However, Catholic plays great defense forcing multiple incompletions and putting Edna Karr on 4th & short. Edna Karr goes for it on fourth down and is held up on a tackle by Ian Locklar causing a turnover on downs. On Catholic’s drive they are completely stifled and are forced to punt the ball shortly after getting the ball. Shortly after, Edna Karr is able to score their first touchdown of the day on a 37 yard catch by Xavier Owens giving them a 7-3 lead to end the first quarter. In response Catholic’s quarterback Baylor Graves picks up a first down and then runs in for a score of his own putting Catholic back up 10-7.
Edna Karr would then attempt to respond but they are unable to gain a first down so, they punt. Catholic then gets off to a hot start from a 30 yard run from Jayden Miles. Their drive would then move nowhere afterwards so they bring their field goal unit out for a kick. Catholic misses the field goal causing a turnover on downs and giving the ball back to the Cougars. They would then get started on a 20 yard pass to Floyd Jones. Edna Karr would also pick up a few more firsts off two runs by Tre Garrison and a catch by Joshua Ford. However a Kidder Harrison sack alongside a pass interference call would give Edna Karr a 4th & goal that they would go for and complete on a touchdown run by John Johnson to put them up 14-10.
To carry their momentum on Catholic’s next drive Edna Karr would come up with a big sack by Cornell Williams and a tackle for loss by Torrence Sanders causes a Catholic punt. On their drive Edna Karr starts off strong picking up quick first downs through Anthony Thomas and John Johnson. Catholic however would then play great defense and pick up a sack through Harrison Kidder and James Pendarvis. This would force Edna Karr to kick a field goal to make the score 17-10. Then to end the half Maurice Williams came up with an interception to stop Catholic’s last minute drive. To start the third Edna Karr would get a first off a run to Tre Garrison. After this they wouldn’t pick up any more yardage as incompletions and a sack by Jayden Vessell would force the Cougars to punt the ball. Catholic then breaks away for a 40 yard gain on a pass to Cale Alexander to put them in scoring range. But after this LSU commit Aiden Hall would come up with an interception to stop the Catholic drive and give the Cougars back the ball. On the first play of Edna Karr’s drive Ian Locklar would take the life out the home crowd as he would also come up with an interception that returns the ball back in Catholic’s hands. The defensive stops would continue as well this quarter as some great Edna Karr defense topped off with a Kylon Jones sack would cause a turnover on downs for Catholic. Edna Karr then has a few incompletions before they punt the ball right back into Catholic’s hands.
Catholic with the ball to start the fourth struggle to gain yardage and end up resetting their downs on a pass interference call. This would be their last positive yardage this game with Kylon Jones coming up with an interception for Edna Karr. Both teams throughout the fourth would exchange the ball back and forth and on Catholic’s last drive of the game Edna Karr is able to force a fumble that is recovered by Romeo Brown to seal the game at 17-10.
