Dominant Win for the Lions

The Southeastern Lions came out this Saturday ready to win and they did just that. Last night the Lions played the Lamar Cardinals away on the road and they got the big win 61 to 34. The game started off a little slow for the Lions putting up only 3 points in the third quarter and 17 points for the first half. However, it was all Lions in the second half putting up 44 points with 27 of those points coming in the fourth quarter. Senior Quarterback and leader of this team Bryan Bennett went 11-of-22 for 165 yards and 1 TD. Bennett did have 2 interceptions but he made up for it with his ground game. Bennett led the rushing leaders for the lions with 125 yards on 17 carries and 3 TDs. Junior Running Back Kody Sutton also had a good rushing game with 86 yards on 18 carries and 1 TD. As usual the receiving core was led by Senior Wide Receiver Devante Scott with 126 yards on 6 receptions. The Lions offense overall was extremely dominant putting together 651 total yards. The Lions defense held the Cardinals offense to 349 total yards and only 80 yards on the ground. Overall the Lions looked really good in this Southland Conference matchup. After this big win the Lions are now 3-0 in their Southland Conference games, which putts them up there as one of the best teams in the Southland Conference. Of course there is a lot of the season left to go, but if the Lions can keep playing the way they did tonight they should be able to win out the rest of their games. GO LIONS!
