Aprilleo Sterling is a 5’8″, 175-pound slot receiver who prides himself on being a threat anywhere he is lined up. The Baton Rouge native had some unfortunate events affect his senior year: his quarterback went down with an ACL injury in Week 2, and the offense then transitioned into a run-heavy scheme to better fit the team’s updated personnel. Without much opportunity to showcase himself and what he can do, the unsigned senior is hungry for more. Sterling currently has a 3.0 GPA and is waiting for the right opportunity to find a place to call home.
How was your Gridiron Football Bowl Game experience?
It was a lot of fun; I enjoyed touring the facilities and meeting so many different people. Overall a really great experience! (Sterling).
What do you feel made this experience so special?
Honestly, just the opportunity to play with other high-level players, competing with people equal to my skill level. Sometimes in high school the talent gap is noticeable, but here everyone was talented, so it pushed everyone to perform at their best (Sterling).
How would you describe yourself as a player?
Very tough and somebody who really loves the game. I am a playmaker, with big-play capability any time the ball is in my hands. (Sterling).
What do you think makes you stand out from other prospects?
I have a chip on my shoulder. I never got to show the world what I could really do, I was only able to show flashes (Sterling).
What are some things you are currently trying to improve?
Being more technically sound as a blocker and fine-tuning all areas of my game. It doesn’t hurt to keep trying to get better at everything (Sterling).
Is there anybody specific that you’d say really had an impact on your football journey?
Definitely Coach Randall; he put me in a position to follow the right steps, and then my family just for being in my corner and keeping me going (Sterling).
