DITR: Taylor Daire

Taylor Daire is from the small town of Eunice, La. He is an Athlete at St Edmunds High School. Taylor is a true Diamond In The Rough (DITR). He has a GPA of 3.14 and just took ACT this past Saturday (June 11th). Taylor is 5’9″ and weighs 160lbs. His head coach, James Shiver, said about Taylor, “He is a good kid, fast, never gives up, he always gives us a spark on special teams. He gave us 3 TDs on kickoff returns, 2 Punt returns for touchdowns last season. He can make a big play anytime. Speed, big play ability, good hands, and leadership is a great description of this kid. He is a kid you want in the locker room. He had a laser time at Belhaven’s camp of a 4.5 40 yard dash.”

When did start playing? When I was 4 years old at the rec. in Eunice.

What have you learned about yourself while playing? I have to discipline myself. How to open my mind to new thing, and to be a better learner. Discipline: I had to learn how to workout even by myself to get better at this game. Open my mind: learning new plays, learn the reason as to why we do thigs, becoming a student of the game.

What would your teachers say about you? That I am a good student, I pay attention in class, and I make good grades.

What do you love about playing football? I love take my aggression out. My parents are divorced. My relationship between me and my mom is not too good. So football gives me an avenue to channel myself.

Who do you look up to? My dad. He has taught me to be the man I a today. He inspires me to play college ball like he did. He played on the line at LSU.

What motivates you? I want to work hard everyday to be a better person everyday. I want to have a successful life. A successful life to me is to have a good job and support my family. I want to be the best I can be everyday.

Are there any aspects of the game that you are working on this summer to get better for the fall? Yes sir, I am working on my speed, footwork, and strength. I am going to camps. I went to McNeese last Wednesday.

What is your personal goal for this upcoming season? Team goal? My personal goal is to break 1,000 yards rushing, have over 700 yards receiving, and to break under a 4.5 40. Our team goal is to win district.

What makes you special? Why should a college recruit you? I will outwork everyone on the field. I am a leader. I help my teammates during film sessions, with their schoolwork, and on the field.
