DITR: Sammy Robinson

Sammy Robinson is a 5’10, 179-pound defensive back out of Caldwell Parish High in Columbia, LA. Sammy swarms to the ball whether it is in the air or on the ground. His instincts allow him to read the field and see plays before they sometimes happen. He showed the ability to be a great open field tackler, fighting through blocks to take down ball carriers consistently.

Tell me a little bit about when you started playing football.

I started playing flag football in first grade. I played because my big brother played.

How will you add value to a college program?

I bring everything to the table. I bring athleticism, speed, and I like to grind.

What mentality do you need to have playing DB?

You have to be mean and willing to get dirty. It’s not a soft position. You have to bring contact and if you’re not ready for that, you can’t play it.

What do you feel are your biggest strengths on the football field?

My hand eye coordination. I could break on the ball with ease. If it comes my way I’m catching it.

What are you looking forward to from playing ion our upcoming bowl game?

Meeting new people and learning stuff while I’m there. Just letting the coaches coach us.

Who or what are your biggest motivators for playing the game?

My big brother. He was really good but didn’t get a chance to play college ball.

What are some lessons that the game of football has taught you that will stick with you going forward in life?

You will go through a lot of adversity. When things get tough, you can’t give up.

How do you want to be remembered by your high school teammates and coaches?

That I was a player who didn’t give up and fought till the end, regardless of what’s going on.
