Standing at 6’2″ and 190 pounds, he has the perfect build for a high school quarterback, blending mobility and strength to be successful in his position. James stands out due to his game knowledge. His leadership demonstrates his grasp of the game, as he constantly selects the best choices to move the ball forward. He is dangerous both on the ground and in the air due to his quickness. Being a quick runner, he can break free from pressure, extend plays, and gain valuable yards with his legs, which makes him a threat as a quarterback. His powerful arms allow him to appear smooth when making deep throws. Due to his accomplishments, he was invited to participate in the 2023 Gridiron Football Bowl, which is evidence of his exceptional talent. James Lucas has an extremely bright future in football as long as he keeps improving. There is no doubt that many are eager to see how far his skills will carry him in the football world.
How did you get started in football, and what inspired you to play the sport?
I started playing at 8 years old, and my dad was my inspiration to start.
Can you share a memorable moment or game that stands out in your football career so far?
It’s always a memorable moment when I’m on the field or have the ball in hands.
What positions do you enjoy playing the most, and why?
QB because I get to set the tempo of the game and do great things with the ball and get the ball to my guys.
How do you balance schoolwork and football during the season?
I focus on nothing but school work when I’m in class and nothing but football when I’m on out of class.
What aspects of your game do you feel you have improved upon the most since you started playing?
I have improved the most in my duel treat abilities and my athleticism. Most QB can’t get away from the pressure and that’s what I think puts me on top of the rankings.
What are your individual goals for the upcoming football season?
Win state, plain and simple.
Are there any professional football players you look up to, and if so, why?
Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts are the guys I model my game after and try to mimic them.
How do you stay motivated during practices and training sessions, especially when facing tough drills or exercises?
My motivation has never been a problem with me because I know what I have to do to make it to college and the next level and I know it will be worth it in the long run.
What advice would you give to other young players?
Keep your foot on the gas and never let up in practice or on the field and never let anyone tell you can’t.
Aside from football, what is an interesting fact about you?
I’m a chill guy. I don’t do much other than football and 7v7.
Which college would you most like to play for?
Any school that offers me a scholarship. I’m not picky when it comes to schools.
What are your biggest strengths on the field?
My football IQ, I can read the defense and use my athleticism against them along with the deep ball.
What is the biggest challenge you face on the field?
The bad habits I had from my younger years of playing and breaking those old habits.
How has playing football impacted other areas of your life, such as academics and personal life?
Football is my life and I will do anything or go anywhere to keep pursuing my dream to make it out of Alexandria and do great things using the game of football.
