DITR: Marquez Williams WR/RS Southern Lab

Marquez Williams is 5’7, 145-pound WR for Southern Lab in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in his final high school season. He has been starting for the Southern Lab Kittens for two years, and definitely helped the the Kittens in the playoffs last year with a kick return to save their season. Entering his senior season, he has been looking to impress scouts, teammates, and coaches. He is a jack of all traits when it comes to having the ball in his hands, he thrives at punt and kick return but also a great deep threat speedster.

I got the opportunity to ask him a few questions and get the pleasure to share them.

Asking about what got him into football?

I have been playing football since I’ve been five years old, so I always loved it, and I really played basketball and football but I loved football more.

Who is your favorite player?

Stefon Diggs the way he runs routes, and also Davantae Adams.

Best Memory playing football?

Is the quarter final game down 15 or 19 points and I return a punt and regained all the momentum for the team and it helped up win state.

What is your best trait when it comes to football?

Good on and off the field, I like to help others, I check on other people, as a player I have great route running and hands are pretty good.

What basketball skills translated to football?

Most of my talent came from basketball running up and down the court and defense helped me with blocking for my teammates and i think everything transferred over since I’m an athlete.

Talking recruiting and going to camps.

I’ve talked to coaches before, it hasn’t gone to well, but I’m being patient and continue to work hard for my teammates to win state, and for myself to be better than I want to be.

Expectations for the rest of the season.

I want to finish the season off with ten touchdowns, I started of slow, which is kind of weird but just want to stay strong and win a state championship with my teammates.
