Lane Leger, out of The Woodlands College Park High School (The Woodlands, TX) is a true asset for the Cavaliers. Even with all the time Lane spends on the field, he still manages to maintain a 3.8 GPA in the classroom! Lane received both All District Honorable Mention and Academic All District his 2024 season. When you look at the 6’0 180lb Linebacker, I would say one of his best field attributes would be his speed. Lane has a 4.59 40-yard dash and a 4.40 for his 5-10-5 shuttle. Even with his constant setbacks due to injuries, he always comes back stronger and better than ever. Lane is probably the most determined football player I’ve ever met. He was also named one of the team captains for the 2025 season, and no one is more deserving.

What got you into football?
“It started when I was 5 years old and I went into the living room and saw my dad watching LSU college football and so it sparked from there. I thought it was the coolest thing ever and I figured I’d want to play that one day.”
What is the main team you root for?
“If I were to always root for a team it, it would always be LSU”
When did you start playing on varsity?
“My Junior year”
What has been your favourite game so far?
“It was definitely the first playoff game vs. Westfield. There was just a different feel behind it, it was just exciting to be there and we just played a great game there was nothing more to it.”
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
“About an hour and a half before the game starts, we go onto the field and we walk it up and down as a team. So whenever I get to the far endzone, I always get down on one knee and I pray. Then on the way back I go to the middle of the field and I look at what is going to be out stands and just like take everything in and see how it’s going to be whenever we’re actually on the field and kind of like envision it in my head. I get down to the 20 and take off my shoes, get down to my socks, and I walk from the 20 down to the end zone so that I can get a feel for the field. Then do a couple of stretches and head back inside.”
Have you faced any big challenges playing football?
“My path to football has never been a straight line, it’s always been uphill. Seventh grade, all 5’6”, 105lb was playing O line because they saw me as one of the bigger kids, even though I was severely undersized for it. The next year I played receiver, except right before we played our first game I tore my ACL and I was out for the entire season. Two years ago I developed quadricep tendonitis, and it severely impacted the way I played, to the point where it hurt even getting down into a squat.”
What motivated you to keep going and not just give up?
“It was mainly me just typing to prove something to myself, like that I could do it. I’ve always been seen as undersized, so it’s proving that no matter how much I weigh, or how big I am , it doesn’t matter, as long as I can play at a high level.”
What is your favourite thing to do off the field?
“I am a really bad video game addict, my favourite at the moment is Marvel Rivals. I am also really big on playing volleyball.”
